學院風格單品中，不可或缺的印度馬德拉斯 (Madras) 面料究竟是什麼？

在格紋織物的歷史上，最早可以追朔到公元前八世紀，而今天要介紹的印度馬德拉斯格紋面料則是發展於 17-18 世紀間的印度南部城市 - 馬德拉斯 (現名：金奈)。

最早的作法是先以天然植物染料先染於紗線上，再手工紡織成格紋面料，屬於先染織物的一種。質地柔軟、略帶不均勻感，讓其透氣與舒適的特性，深受當地炎熱氣候下的居民喜愛。並且於 17 世紀因著殖民影響，經由貿易大量輸出至歐洲和美洲。當時的馬德拉斯格紋面料被視為東方異國情調的象徵。

一直到了 1960 年代，美國 Preppy (常春藤風格) 學生圈掀起一股馬德拉斯格紋穿搭的熱潮。由於某些馬德拉斯布經洗滌會退色，當年品牌們反而以「Bleeding Madras（會褪色的馬德拉斯）」作為行銷賣點，標榜「穿得越久越有味道」。

今年夏天為大家準備了兩款以馬德拉斯格紋面料製作而成的「開襟休閒襯衫」與「鈕扣領襯衫」，期待大家可以透過不同的領型設計，穿搭出屬於您今夏的經典休閒風味！
